The origins of Siegwerk date back to the 1820s. This was when, together with his brother-in-law, Christian Gottlieb Rolffs founded the retailer of manufactured goods, “Rolffs & Poensgen”, in Cologne. Rolffs and his successors concentrated on successful trends from an early stage and furthered the growth of the printing industry with many innovations. In doing so, they laid the foundations for a successful, market-leading printing ink business, which today brings color to everyday life throughout the world.
Siegwerk promotes responsible business practices, even outside the company. To achieve this, we work closely together with industry associations and organizations around the world, and share our expert knowledge and convictions there. Siegwerk plays a leading role in the committees of the European Printing Ink Association (EuPIA), and the most important national printing ink associations in Europe. We also work actively in industry associations outside the borders of Europe. Siegwerk is a member of the China Printing Ink Association (CPIA) and the American National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM). In addition, we are represented in all of the industry associations around the world that are relevant to our business.
Our commitment goes far beyond the technical association work. We are members of organizations and initiatives that promote greater sustainability across different industries. In order to increase the transparency of the entire supply chain, in 2012 Siegwerk became the first printing ink manufacturer to join the initiative Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX). This platform allows member companies to exchange information relating to sustainability. We share this information with our customers in order to further promote the topic of sustainability.
Particularly important to us is involvement in initiatives that promote sustainable development. We are therefore active in Responsible Care, a voluntary global initiative of the chemical industry that campaigns for responsible business practices. Its aim is to improve health protection, environmental protection, and safety in companies.
We have joined the industry initiative “Chemie³”, which pursues the aim of anchoring sustainability as the mission statement of its member companies. In CEFLEX we contribute to the development of more sustainable future flexible packaging. And with our support of the SAVE FOOD initiative we joined forces to fight against food waste.
In our company, we place great importance on standardized methods of working - in the interests of our staff, customers and end consumers. In this regard, we can point to numerous ISO certificates which we have been regularly awarded by independent certification bodies. Please have look at all our certifications on our website.
