The company predominantly deals with industrial production technology for the production of board materials or the surface finishing of board or roll materials. With 180 employees worldwide Hymmen works on investment projects in the following industries: Furniture, Flooring, Doors/Gates, Decorative Laminates, Building Materials, Steel & Aluminium, Composites & Technical Laminates. The offered technologies include Double Belt Presses, Multi Opening Presses, Laminating Lines, Lines for Liquid Coating incl. Direct Printing, Calender Coating Inert (CCI), Industrial Digital Printing Lines, Automation and Control Technology and Service.
Since 2009 Hymmen puts its focus of R&D on industrial digital printing. With more than 45 operating digital printing lines worldwide it may be seen as market leader in the woodworking industry. The latest developments in digital printing include process optimizations in décor print with UV-curing inks as well as the digital structuring. Moreover a digital printing line with water based inks for printing décor paper has been developed recently.

2020: Further innovations concerning digital printing technologies: Digital Lacquer Embossing and digital printing on decor paper with water-based inks (SATURN Digital Printing Line).
2008: Market launch of the JUPITER Digital Printing Line, which enables industrial-level digital printing on web materials and panel materials
1980s: Market launch of the IsoPress double belt pressfor the manufacture of decorative laminates and industrial laminates.
1970s: Hymmen thermal laminating lines set a new benchmark in surface finishing.
1950s: Hymmen introduces its roller application machines and curtain coater, thus creating the basis for its coating lines in the furniture industry.
1892: Theodor Hymmen founds a company for machine and steel construction.
