As early as 2018, the company recognised the potential offered by digital printing papers. This led to the acquisition of a speciality paper business, with high-performance mills in Carmignano and Condino, Italy.

Sappi has experienced a significant increase in the demand for sublimation paper. Over the last two years, the company has invested several million euro to expand its Centre of Excellence at its facility in Carmignano. Sappi’s portfolio of proven dye-sublimation paper includes uncoated Basejet as well as Transjet, which offers unique coatings, using water-based, dye-sublimation inks.
